Customer data connector

Show profile fields, lists and alerts from your own systems in the Customer panel of every ticket.

The customer data connector lets agents see what your own systems know about a customer (plan, orders, account status, open incidents) right in the ticket, without a sidebar app.

How it works

  1. An admin sets the connector endpoint (URL and authentication) under Admin Center, Integrations, Customer data.
  2. When an agent opens a ticket, ChaosDesk calls your endpoint with the requester’s identifiers (email, external id, phone).
  3. Your endpoint answers with JSON: profile fields, lists (for example the last orders) and alerts (for example “payment overdue”).
  4. ChaosDesk renders the answer in the Customer panel.

Your endpoint

  • HTTPS, reachable from the published egress IP addresses.
  • Authentication: an API key in a header of your choice (for example X-API-Key, or Authorization: Bearer ...), or OAuth client credentials (token URL, client id and secret, optional scope and audience).
  • Timeout: 1 to 15 seconds (default 5). After that the panel tells the agent your system did not answer, without blocking the ticket.
  • Cache: 0 to 86400 seconds per customer (default 300). Agents can refresh the panel by hand; failures are cached for 15 seconds.
  • Answer 404 or "found": false when you have no record; the panel says so.
  • ChaosDesk stores none of the data, and the panel never writes back to your system.

Customer context is also available through the REST API at GET /api/users/{id}/customer_context, so rules and integrations can use the same data.
