Verify your domain (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)

Publish DNS records so replies go out from your own domain and reach the inbox.

1 min read

When you forward support@example.com to ChaosDesk, replies first go out from your workspace address with your address as Reply-To. Verify example.com to send replies as support@example.com itself.

Start the check

  1. Open Admin Center, Channels, Brands & email.
  2. Scroll to Sending domains. Every domain used by one of your support addresses is listed, with its status for SPF, DKIM and DMARC.
  3. Choose Send from this domain next to your domain.

ChaosDesk registers the domain and shows the records to publish under Waiting for DNS.

Publish the records

Add these records at your DNS host (where you manage example.com):

  • DKIM: the CNAME or TXT records shown. They prove the mail was signed for your domain.
  • SPF: add the include shown to your existing v=spf1 TXT record. Keep one SPF record per domain: merge includes instead of adding a second record.
  • DMARC (recommended): a TXT record at _dmarc.example.com, for example the value shown on the page.

Check DNS

DNS changes can take from a few minutes to a few hours. Choose Check DNS to test again. Each record shows OK, Missing or Wrong, and the domain gets the Verified sender badge when it passes.

Good to know

  • Until the domain is verified, mail goes out from your workspace address with your address as Reply-To, so customers can still answer.
  • If you change mail providers or DNS hosts later, run Check DNS again.
  • DMARC is informational in ChaosDesk: we show it so you can protect your domain, it does not block sending.
