Try sample data

Fill a new workspace with realistic sample tickets and customers, then remove them in one click.

1 min read

An empty workspace is hard to judge. Sample data gives you a set of realistic tickets to try views, macros, rules and reports on, without writing to real customers.

What you get

  • 14 sample tickets and 8 sample customers, written for the industry you chose during setup.
  • The tickets are spread over the last few days. Some are already answered by you, others are still waiting.
  • Every sample ticket has the tag sample, and every sample customer has the user tag sample, so you can recognise them in views and search.
  • Nothing is emailed: the sample customers use example.com addresses and notifications are switched off for them.

The tickets go through the normal ticket flow, so views, SLA targets and the ticket history behave as they would for real tickets.

Add sample data

You can add it in either place (admins only):

  • In the setup wizard, on the Your business step, tick Add sample tickets.
  • On Home, in the Getting started card, choose Add sample data.

You can add sample data once. To add it again, remove it first.

Remove sample data

  1. On Home, in the Getting started card, choose Remove sample data.
  2. Confirm with Remove sample data.

ChaosDesk deletes exactly the tickets and customers that setup created. Tickets your team or your customers created are never touched, even if you tagged them sample yourself.

Sample data never ticks an item on the setup checklist, so your progress stays honest.
