Import from Help Scout
Move your Help Scout conversations, customers, users, saved replies and Docs to ChaosDesk.
This feature is still being built. Some steps or screens may change.
Before you start
In Help Scout, as an Account Owner or Administrator:
- Create an app under Your Profile, My Apps, Create My App (any redirect URL works). Note the App ID and App Secret. The app sees every mailbox that user can see.
- Optional, to import Docs: create a Docs API key under Your Profile, Authentication, API Keys.
Connect
- Open Admin Center, Integrations, Import and pick Help Scout.
- Enter the App ID, App Secret and, if you have one, the Docs API key.
- Optional: Requests per minute. Help Scout allows 200 per minute per account (400 on Plus), so leave headroom for your team.
- Choose Save, then Test connection.
Import
- Choose Estimate volume.
- Run a Dry run and read its report.
- Run the Full import.
What comes over
- Mailboxes become groups. With more than one mailbox, each also becomes a brand.
- Teams become groups, and users become agents.
- Customers, custom fields and saved replies (as macros).
- Conversations with their threads become tickets.
- Docs collections, categories and articles become your help centre.
Help Scout workflows are listed to rebuild by hand as triggers, automations or macros.
